South east London Bushido Tournament November 12th 2016

Hi Peeps

Hope everyone is well following on from the recent tournament earlier this month at Warboar in Bromley. Emma the store manager has sent of the rankings so Silvermoons will be sorted, if not by now very soon indeed.

I'm chomping at the bit to run another tournament at the store and to give me the time required to get it ready dates have already been booked in at the store for the 2nd Bromley Bushido tournament. So on the 12th November 2016 Warboar and Paradice Boardgame cafe in Bromley shall be hosting their second Bushido Tournament. Tickets will be up and available in a week or so on the Warboar webstore.

Would be great to see everyone again and if possible some new faces. if we get several people on the reserve I will look into increasing the player numbers to accomodate any that want to enter.

Take care now hope to see you in November

whether it's the first tournament or the latest in a long line of tournaments that you've played in I'm sure that you'll settle in fine and be made really welcome by everyone thats there for the day. I've said it before and will say it again and again im sure, but the Bushido community really are one of the best gaming groups out there, so easy going and willing to help with hints, tips and rules queries even if it ends up helping you too whoop their butts.

Hello,

Think myself & my mate are interested in coming along, never been to the club and have never played a single game of Bushido, but the date is my birthday so sounds like a good excuse to come out get my face kicked off and sink some Beers.

Ok everybody last update from Warboar ( the venue) is that 11 of the 16 places have now been filled. The 2nd round scenario is to be Keii. Nearer the date I'll give Warboar a letter to send out to all those taking part with the times and scenarios as well as my contact details for any questions about the event.

if the event is filled with plenty of time to spare and enough interest I will look into increasing the number of places from the 16 to maximum 32 place event.

In the mean time hope you are all well and having a great summer and painting those warbands. Take care and I look forward to seeing you all in November.

Be great to see you there. new players are more than welcome if I can say just one thing about the Bushido playing community it's that they're some of the most welcoming people I know and even in the midst of a tournament they're happy to offer advise to new players, even if that advise will scupper their own plans. It's all about having fun and playing games.

Elmfield road just behind the Mall postcode BR1 1TR. It's an NCP car park and is £8.50 for the whole day. there may be cheeper but this one is right by the venue. litrally if you walk 50 meters straight out the lift you'll be autside the store.

OK people this weekend the 2nd Bromley tournament is on. we've got 14 of the 16 places filled although there may be a couple no shows due to family issues. Whatever the case I'm sure it will be another day of great gamers playing a great game. Any last minute competeitors that feel like giving it a go please go along to the Warboar. Just use this link, I hope it works.

I'm starting to think you might be right about the hail of steel Ben. Certainly being on the receiving end of Bikou (ryu version) has confirmed my opinion she is too cheap.

Ben (Fleafa) I remember saying that now and it's how I truly felt. I've only been playing Andy (da gobbo) and although I was winning begin with the Ryu he beat me more than I beat him.

I was happy with my first result a 1-1 draw. Delighted with my 2-1 win in the second and completely shocked with my 3-0 third round win so much so I had to take my inhaler lol

You may think she is cheap Axiam, but she is also really fragile and can be easily removed from play. What's your name by the way as I believe from your profile pic that you were there Saturday?

She is fragile if you can catch her, she gets a proper kicking! The Guardian threw her about a lot....

Hi Damon, I'm Adam, I was running the other ninja list. Please thank Andrew for his kind words about my makeshift needlework on the blog. :)

I agree, in principal Bikou is fragile but still remarkably difficult to take down due to camouflage and smoke bombs plus the ability to jump an inch out of combat at the beginning of the turn.

She did come unstuck for the only time in this tournament, however, due to the luckiest Minuro shot from mid range through cover that I've ever seen (double 6s I think Matt rolled) and then he rolled enough to score the maximum 4 wounds on success level 1!

So who knew that a nearby dog could strip aninja of their camouflage? Ben/Fleafa, apparently, as he was playing on the table nearest and getting a great deal of delight from the puppy then finishing the job. I think it must have been a revenge thing for Ben & my earlier game as Ben  promptly offered Matt some freebie scenario objectives for taking Bikou down. Thanks for the support Ben ;-)

That said, i think all of the ninjas are fragile in my opinion. I've found that armour 1 and the extra Hp rarely make a difference so I'd happily drop both for a reduction in RC on the other ninjas (to enable tooling up).

I took bikou and Kouhei last year with ghost and shizuka and did much better (4 wins) but wanted to try Kerasu and the long shadow theme, this time around, for the extra mobility and chances at activation denial (rather than murdering nearly everything by turn 3 and controlling out the game, which is apparently not much fun for the opponent).

I think I was a bit of a victim of what I love about the game in the end, as in my first game we may have conversed more about the characters and possible tactics than actually activating the models. I'm happy to take half the blame on that one though as Luke, my first opponent, is a great guy and good to discuss ideas with so I ended up losing the first game 1-0.

Matt did also go on to white wash me in the final game, also to Ben's delight (I should add at this point, Ben & I have known each other 14 years and I'd been practising on him leading up to the tournament so his reaction was not too surprising). In hindsight, I should have been more patient with my activations in that final game, but I think having scout on three models encouraged me to push forward more than I should have, and I ended up being the one caught out in the open instead of my opponent.

Still, it is good to see the KKZ triumphant again and very well done on winning your first tournament Damon!

Congrats!

Thanks, I was in total disbelief. I thought Jack had it in the bag, to be honest. After 3 games he had only dropped 2 points. 25 out of a possible 27.

He should've played more defensively against me, he was going after the easy reveal ViM point in the last scenario messenger and I got some great rolls with Bikou at Kitsune in fox form.

It was a great day and I am looking forward to my next but I don't think I will play the same list. Gotta mix it up. I've got my Cult and Savage wave too. Although I'm currently painting my Cult I am thinking of bringing my Wave next time seen's as there were none there this time around. I'll have to see how I play with them.

That would be good, I've recently bought a fairly unique, from what I've seen, cult list so will probably take that next time to see how it holds up against diffeŕent war bands. Would be good to see Savage Wave, they have some interesting uniqueness to them.

Mr stu

Hope you are well. Thanks again for such a well run tournament.

Sorry to ask but are GCT processing our silver moon points?  Nothing's popped up on my account yet.

Appreciate they can be a bit slow on this with everything else they have on...
