Kato VS Rakash

Hello all,

so the situation

I play death and decay, and fighting a Elite/Alpha big Dog like rakash is a huge problem. and i was thinking of a salution.

If i can Slow him (no first strike) and i attack him with Kato with Ivory prison, do i strike first? sinds i have the innitiative and not get killed in the returning strike?

or do i have surprise him fore this to work?

(Just interested in finding a way to kill him before he gets to strike back, not debating the MS-dice pool)

Slow and first strike cancel eachother so you can do that.
Keep in mind that you will need to Ki Boost to use Ivory Prison Attack.
And he still may use a dice in def

I was thinking more of a good way to get rid of Elite/Apha Moddels, sinds my army containes moostly/only kairai, so MS 2 crap vs ms 3-4 armor 2-3 etc. is a hard nut. in sutch inviroment i wanne create a situation where i can just Delete the target with Kato.

so i create a situation i can handle,

the target of the ivory attack needs to be at 1 to -1 dice (-1= i get +1)

my options are

target is exhausted (easy to do)

target is outnumbered (moderate to do, kairai need to remain healthy and not prone or bashed/pushed)

serprise him (easy to do if the target is alredy outnemberd/exhausted)

stun him (easy to do)

so that puts the Elite/Alpha on -4/5 if i spend 3-6 Ki i will be on 1 vs 2/4dice.

-------------------

the thing i needed to work out is if the targets gets to make a attack even if i kill him. witch is no :D

it will still remain a gamble. if the attack fails the target will rape kato the next activation

I think it would be very difficult to swarm Rashka as he can slam attack with first strike, which against kairai I would probably be doing as it both stuns and prones them, stopping them from getting to attack again when they stand back up and keeping Rashka free to target key models with the second activation (squashing a nearby Kato for example).

The cultists with fear 5 masks would be a good alternative to try and use to bog big guys down with. The fear would not be an issue and 3 dice for defence gives them greater survivability and extra ki for Kato through conspiracy. Rashka can still auto disengage, but only once per turn. If he squashes your cultist, Kato can also resurrect them as kairai reducing the loss. I think the cultists in the card pack also get dirty fighting so can remove special attacks as an option.
Alternatively a marionette will give Rashka pause for thought and if you use control to exhaust and surprise him your Insta removal attack is more likely to be possible.

Good luck!

Since he doesn't have combo strike, you can also try to stall him,/tire him with swarms: he'll need 3 activations to kill 1, more if you get a lucky defense. For his rice you can fit 2, it will keep him busy most of the game.

my current 42 list contain 6 kairai Yugio And Kato+puppet.

i let rakash exhaust himself, then Yugio warding so he can't use bash, then 3 ms dice kairai (eather a 3ki kairai or the samurai) vs 2 dice rakash and slow him, (to remove first strike incase i cant serprise him) hope the kairai lives. then walk in the kusatta and stun him (outnumber+stun+exhausted -3) 1dice vs 3 defence. then walk in Kato (outnumber 2+stun+exhausted+serprised)is -5MS, kato -2 fore ivory, 1 vs 4 right?

as a backup plan i can use the puppet to eather exhaust capture Rakash, or controll a other oni/slave to attack/exhaust rakash.

the reason i asked is i was planning to do it in a tornement but i was not sure how the combat order worked (stil kind of new to bushido) and to ask him was to reveal my plan. if i was wrong i would have lost the match. so that why i asked here haha.

That is a lot of resource to deal with Rashka when you may be better off just assigning a couple of kairai to the job of slowing him down and hopefully passing rise tests.

Use the manekin to create threat on him and give your opponent some hard choices. If you can control Rashka for 1-2 markers early in a turn and then run him near Kato to exhaustion you can get a surprised/ran/exhausted -3 on him, engage with a kairai first for the -4. To put Kato on +2 for a hopeful attempt at scrubbing Rashka off the board even with a success lvl 0.
