Yama Uba - Apparition

Forums:

Hi Everyone,

if I read the profile Card of Yama Uba, I each time wonder how Apparition comes into Play or serves the model:
"Place this model within 2" of its current location..."

May anyone can give me a guide how and when to use it properly?

Place yourself near an objective, if an opponent can make it into btb (with fear) to stoo you from pressing The objective you can use apparition to move out of btb and on the other side of the objective and press it.
Or simply use it to move through an enemy line.

Always remember reach and fear are both effects that will triggert when you enter btb. So to apply fear and you can Always attack first (thanks to sixth sense even when you would get surprised)

@Sora9785: Are you sure it works like ur first example? It´s an active Ki Feat, so how I read it it can´t be used in reaction. If it was possible to use like an instant Ki Feat in meely it would be really cool. You could strike first and get out of the fight after hitting. But seams that´s not a tactic supposed to work.

Yeah i mean before you nominate a model you can use her. I meant it that way you still have to complete the attack first. But after that when she has activation counters left, you can use her in the way i described

I'm not sure being surprised stop you from using reach. Where is in the rules?

Surprised (During Melee)
The Rules » Melee Exchanges » Surprised (During Melee)
A model is Surprised if an Activating Enemy model that did not begin its activation in BtB performs an action that Targets it or brings it into BtB and that Enemy model started outside of LoS and remains outside of LoS during movement.
Surprised models:
May not declare Ki Feats or Ki Boosts
Are always the Attacker second in Melee Exchanges
May not benefit from traits or effects that affect Initiative
Suffer a -1 Melee Pool modifier
May still declare Special Attacks and Defences.
Models are only Surprised until the action in which they became Surprised is resolved.

I'd to check manual under model states.. because there surprised seem not include many of those sentence. Probably it's under melee section that everything is explained.

My manual clearly states that Surprised models always attack second in Melee and may not benefit from traits or effects that alter initiative.

This includes Reach.

If you don't are not seeing the not benefit from traits or effects that alter initiative it's probably because you are reading the effects of surprised on ranged attacks instead of melee, I did the same mistake myself.

YEsterday i checked manual and yes there's an entry for surprised in the status section (blind, stunned etc..) that miss a lot of info about surprised.

That's why is bad put the same rules twice or more time in a manual. It's always better put every rule once.

There is nothing about Surprised in the Model States section of my Risen Sun rulebook. There is information about Surprised under Ranged and Melee Combat because the effects are slightly different.

In New Dawn Surprised was a State, in Risen Sun this no longer the case
