Ito list suggestions?

My girlfriend is getting into Bushido and decided on the Ito.

She picked up stuff based on what she liked the look of so now needs to look to create a 50 rice list based on want she has. If you could help with a list based on what she has and give me advice on how the miniatures play I would appreciate it.

She picked up the following

Ito Clan Starter Set

Ito Clan Special Card Pack 1

Mizuki Ito

Ayako Ito

Kenzo Ito

Thanks for any help.

Hmm, she's probably going to drop to a 6 model warband with those figures.  She should start off with a base of Kenzo + 2x Temple Bushi for 20 rice.  If she likes doing evil magic and stuff, dual shisai is an option (it's not optimised, but it's not awful either) with Ayako and Sakura (currently at 37 rice - 5 models), um... throw in Itsunagi I guess?

Itsunagi Ito
Ayako Ito
Kenzo Ito
Sakura
Temple Bushi
Temple Bushi

Itsunagi and Kenzo are there to maul things.  They are both very good at this.

Ayako is mainly a control-type model, Hypnotic Gaze is very useful in limiting the usefulness of select enemy models, and she has good Ki denial with Psychic Drain.  When she has more than 3 Ki on a turn, she should be giving the extra Ki to Itsunagi or Kenzo so they can maul yet more things.

Sakura is there to help Ayako and maybe throw out cheeky 1 Ki Psychic Venoms every  now and then.

The Temple Bushi are your generic grunts in the warband, they're there to do scenario actions and keep Ayako/Sakura reasonably safe.  They can generally hold up enemy models for a couple of turns.

It always goes to tiebreakers.

Thank you ret

Yeah not to worried about optomising things atm. Just learning the rules and playing with cool models. Once we learn the game more we can look into tweaking lists.

I am personally going for tengu.

Thanks for the list and the breakdown of the model uses esepically for the three model starter list to try. That will be good for us to learn the game with. I think heavy on Mauling things will be her prefered playstyle from what I know of her.

Anything you would say is a must have for her to add in the future?

The best model in Ito is Naoko. The minus 2 debuff from Blind and Suprise is devastating. Plus the fact that she can escape from any bad situation and even heal.

There´s a plethora of great mid range guys too;Saburo, Yuii, Takeji, Tamotsu and Jade Mambas. As soon as she finds her preferred style she can well mould her warband per preference.

I would 100% recommend the Shimogamo Vipers.  They are hilariously huge models, but if used smartly to harass and threaten enemy support models they can do a LOT of work.  They also help to push the model count up.

If she wants to try out Mizuki, I would also say to pick up Kazuhiko.

I would recommend the Vipers for cheap flankers, they're amazing at picking up support models or just messing with your opponents' positioning. Kazuhiko I don't like at all, he seems so much less versatile than literally anything else.

My recommendation after the Vipers is the second card pack. The Blessed theme is a nice thing to have, but the Muramasa's Blade is the real gem there: put it on Kenzo and you get such a very deadly Samurai. It gives Sharp in exchange for some damage each turn if you don't kill an enemy with him but since he has 8 health anyway the Blade alone can't kill him. Ignoring Armour and Toughness is so worth it. The card pack also contains an alternate profile card for Ayako which is even better than her usual card.

Also Satsuki to complete the Sisters, though investing in so many Ki Feat based models does make the warband a bit light on melee and so requires practice, very worth it in my opinion. Yuui and Saburo are also worthy choices, especially Yuui with her Grapple. Support Kenzo with her and he will destroy basically everything without breaking a sweat.

Something I realised I hadn't added, Mizuki is an amazing caster. I would recommend using her with a 2 or 3 rice Dark Secrets, and using Sakura to power her feats. Greater Destiny is also a useful addition though I mostly use it because of the Temple I face often and their generally high Ki stats.

Anyway Mizuki should be trying to get Control markers on preferably Exhausted models, so you can control when they activate in the next turn. In that sense you can also Control models you don't want your opponent to activate, or Control models that are Tired so you can have them Run, preferably past one of your melee models who can then deliver a killing blow to a very much debuffed enemy.

Sounds like printing out some cards and playtesting with proxies might be in order before buying the actual models. Even great profiles might not fit into one persons playstyle compared to anotehr.

Yes, there were a lot of recommendations then cheeky
I'd definitely try them first.  GCT have really concentrated on fleshing out the themes within each faction in the past year or so.  Even within a faction, there can be massively different playstyles involved.
