New Player wanting to dive in deep...

Hey guys,

After watching Some battle reports on youtuve from Ash and Chris, I really want to dive into this world and learn more about this game. I've been trying to find any podcasts or warband builders on itunes. Does anyone know of such things? Looking in the forums, the previous ones just ceased to be? Ideally I want to start with the Jung Pirates or the Temple of Ro-Kan. Is there any other pages that someone could reccomend so I can understand them better? I appreciate any and all help.

Thanks!

First, hello and welcome !

2nd, the only team builder I know is on android, I don't think there is any official.

If you need any advice building a warband or just buying stuff in the right order feel free to ask in the dedicated faction forum, people are really helpfull and should provide the answer you need. ( I can only help you with Tengu and Savage wave )

Welcome, you really can't go wrong with either the Ryu or Pirate starter set. I've played against both and they are good intro starter sets. It helps to find other players, where are you located if you don't mind me asking?

Apologies, the I read Ryu not Temple, I personally think you need to mix up the Temple starter set. That said they are a fun, balanced and hard hitting but take a little getting used to to find all the synergies.

Thanks guys! What is the general thought of building your own 35-37 starter equivilant? ( for me it was just picking models I rather like the look of). As of now the only opponent I know has the Savage wave starter. Like with temple I was just thinking Hotaru, Riku, Po and Suchiro which is 36 rice. Or with Jung I was thinking  Minato, Yuji, Taru, Kohanin, and Sho which is 35 rice. Again I have no idea if there is any synergy with these models, I just like the look of them.

With the Pirate you'll need the card pack to have the theme including Minato & Yuji (you get Tireless, no special deployment for your opponent...), and I would advise to get the let annoying pecker (Temo). Everything else works with them.

For the Temple, the starter is hard to play for a beginner, I would advise to go for Kuma, he's like a giant swiss blade, hold, smashing ,tanking, He might even be more versatile than master Po, I think Aiko, for 4 points, is a wonderful support, then, again, the card pack gives you the monk theme, with a free kami in it (the new kami of reflection is very good against Yurei & silvermoon, I like the wind kami for any other purpose)

You can always build your own warband, that's the great part of being able to see what things cost on the web site. I personally go with what I like and try to find the best way to play them.

I realize I'm posting on the forum but it's an amazing game with so many possibilities and play styles that every game is different. Make sure you play with a scenario (and try different ones). The game excels when you try to accomplish objectives (or deny them) over just "killing".

As someone whos enjoyed games like Infinity and Malifaux specifically because of the objectives, I will certainly try them. Thank you!

I actually think the Temple starter is the strongest of them all imo. 3 great support models, 2 4MS monks. I hate playing against it. I don't think I've managed to beat it yet.

Ekusa's contemplate existence right bugger to play against. A peasant that can bodyguard and a peasant that can heal and don't forget the faith feat where all boosts cost one less ki to do.
