Introduce yourself

Studio's picture

This topic is where you can say 'hi' to the Bushido community.

So feel free to introduce yourself, and let us know where you play or live (so others can join you or arrange a game or two), which faction you are currently playing or intend on starting, etc.

Henrix, welcome aboard, in our group one of the orginal players was/is a swede and over the years met some good guys from sweden including a guy who helped out with the rules lay out. .

Thank you!

I know Henrik and Jocke since a long time ago. In fact one of the first things I noticed when I first checked out the game (and read the rules, I'm a rules junkie) was that they were involved.

By Henrix --

I follow the rules of bushido. I am a bushi.

Swedish players, rally to Hokuō Bushido!

Hello! Another swede here. I tested the game with Henrix with proxied models, had great fun amids all the confusion, and am looking forward to next month when I will order my Savage Wave minis!

I've played some different miniature games, most recently Alkemy and Confrontation, over the last twenty years or so, and been roleplaying for longer than that.

By Yinkin

Welcome Yinkin, good to have another Swede on board there are quite a few of you here now. Make sure you add yourselves to the player locator.

Hi folks,

I am Joe from near RAF Brize, Oxfordshire. Thought my gaming days were gone but stumbled on Bushido and it may well have saved me from a fate worse than a fate worse than death smiley

Only recently picked up some Temple minis and hoping to start painting them this week but given how little time I have for painting it may well be 2013 by the time I finish the starter set frown

Shamanu, welcome to the boards glad Bushido brought you back into the fold. We're about quite a lot through this month if you get the chance to put to one of the events and say hi.

Hi Guys,

I'm from Stevenage (near London) and got into Bushido following a demo game at Salute where I played against my mate, I was using the Temple of Ro Kan and he was using The Prefecture.

I really enjoyed it, loved the minis and promptly picked up a Ro Kan starter set. My friend didn't get a starter set (grumble. he was skint) so I've also picked up a Cult of Yurei starter set and am working my way through painting them. (Ro Kan is done, now onto the cult :-D)

I've successfully managed to get my brother to get the Savage Wave starter set, and am looking forward to playing a lot in the near future :-D

Hi there,

I've been looking for a good oriental fantasy game since Clan War, and I really liked the Bushido models and the rules sound pretty cool. I'm more of a modeler than a gamer these days, but really like where Bushido is going. Hopefully I can coerce some of my friends into a game.

I already have a few starting factions, now just need to paint them up and try some games with people.

Just wanted to say 'Hi', and thanks for the work you guys and the community are doing.

Good day all.  Name is Phil, currently located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  Discovered Bushido through reading the "Frontline Gamer" blog, watching videos from Salute 2012.  Been trying to find a reliable source for Bushido models within the country, but I took the plunge anyway and pitched in to the Indigogo Ito campaign.  Very much looking forward to getting other players in my club involved in a "Tale of Five Gamers" sort of campaign (considering that there is 5 faction now!).

By Firestorm (not verified)

Thanks Phil. yo won't be disapointed from jumping into the campaing for the Ito. the disapointed ones will be your friends  when they realized they missed the  free minis...   We do have a distributor In the USA  so your local shops could get  Bushido from them...  or get in contact with us

I feel quite at home here , Mike from manchester (others may know me as greymane elsewhere) . Starting playing the temple and it looks like NWGC (north west gaming centre) picked up a few more players over the weekend at Games expo.

"To a real warrior, power perceived may be power achieved."

Hi folks,

I'm Steve, from the west midlands uk, been wargaming for a few years now. Usually playing Malifaux and 40k.

A warcraft friend of mine popped along to last weekends expo and was chatting whilst building his turtle, after a brief discussion with him, i got onto the phone with my regular opponent and suffice to say i'll be starting off next month.

I think some monks to begin with (the upcoming Hitaru figure looks amazing), unless the Ito are released by then... but tbh it'll only be a matters of days before i end up with all of them (i'm one of the many sufferers of the terrible magpie syndrome).

Pleased to meet you all :)

"To a real warrior, power perceived may be power achieved."

My name's Gareth and I usually visit Warseer under the name Astraeos, but I adore Japanese culture and finding Bushido last year got me a bit over excited and I signed up under a different user name!

It's actually the real name of a character I designed for a manga I've been thinking up for about ten-ish years!

I've been into Games Workshop since I was ten and has been one of the greatest passions in my life despite the constant price rises and abysmal "Finecast" material. Finding a games club has allowed me the opportunity to branch out and I regularly play Malifaux using a Guild crew led by Lady Justice!

I've also dabbled with Infinity, Warmachine and Soda Pop before now. Soda Pop is souding pretty good these days and I'm waiting for my Super Dungeon Explore pre-order anxiously!

I have a confession, I'm yet to buy any Bushido models (too distratced by other games) but I did donate 50 dollars twice to the Ito campaign! I'll probably end up getting the Prefecture of Ryu set at some point.

By Ryumaru --

Also known as Astraeos on Warseer!

Good morning all

Sorry but I started posting earlier withour paying attention to this section and failing to introduce me.

My name is Stephane, I am 47 years old and I live in Mayotte, a small island near Madagascar.

I have been playing figurines and games for a while but I understood early that I shall never be the new Napoleon of the gaming tables. So I specialized in giving points to my opponents, in suffering in silence while being used as a carpet to clean the iron boots of my adversary and in offering a smiling face while I was only thinking about transforming the other player into a bakemono feast for inflicting me my Xth defeat.

As a resume, let's say that I just like playing whatever is the game and whoever wins.

Hello!

I'm Kyle from Lowestoft, England. A friend of mine told me about this game when we were on the search for new games to play between Warhammer anf Malifaux and the likes and this one caught our attention :)

I play both Cult and Precture and find it to be one of my most played games currently!

@Ryumaru, how you getting on with the game?

@Shakall, that's the spirit, all for fun right! And if you lose you can always go outside and enjoy the tropical paradise :)

@KlewB, is your friend the other two? Have you introduced the scenarios yet?

Other two? You mean other two factions? if so; yes :)

We have used the scenarios, but only with monks vs cult , we only recently got the other two factions, but for the most part we've played capture the kami. Which usually ends in a monk victory with the cult shuffling after them in the distance :P

By KlewB (not verified)

Hi!

Anders here yet another Swede lured into the game. I have been lurking in the outskirts admiring the models for some time now...

Anyway I have been playing wargames and rpgs for 25+ years now, but nowadays not as frequently as before, mostly some warmachine/hordes, freebooters fate etc. Most of my miniature time has gone towards diorama/participation games for cons etc.

I have ordered some monks, and will most likely get the savage wave later.

Still reading the rules but I have a Prefecture of Ryu starter set and am waiting for Daisuke and Matsu to turn up in the mail.

I'm trying to decide on a second set so I can entice others to play.

By Ryumaru --

Also known as Astraeos on Warseer!

Hey you all,

The name's Wouter but I usually go online with my nickname. I'm from Belgium and play miniature games for quite some time now (since I'm 33 and I'm playing from my 15th). There are a lot of games I own, just because I'm interested in the rules or I see miniatures I'd like to paint. But there are only a few games that I really play with a friend. Freebooters Fate, Anima T, Warmachine being the ones that are played the most. But occassionally I play Infinity with my brother. And I'm eagerly waiting for Relic Knights to be released. There isn't really a gamesclub nearby (me and a couple of friends used to have a club of our own, but we mostly play rpg's these days), the nearest being in Tilburg or Antwerp.

I came across Bushido while surfing for some interresting terrain and it catched my eye. Being a fan of L5R, manga/ anime as a whole and Usagi Yojimbo it probably isn't so strange. I haven't decided on a faction yet, but either Ro-kan or the cult of Yurei spark my interest.Shame I missed the Ito funding though. Now I'll read about these factions a bit more to make my final decision.

greetings

Hi all!

My name is Greg, and I'm from the St. Louis, Missouri, USA region.  I was introduced to Bushido by Polar_Bear, and I love the game.  I have played a few demo games, and while I unfortunately missed out on the Indiegogo campaign for the Ito, I fully intend on buying the faction when it is released.

Hello All,

Live in Peterborough UK and I've been playing various games for over 25yrs. I'm trying this game as I'm also a reasonably qualified Martial artist and fancy combining the 2 hobbies. I imagine it'll be Ro Kan for starters, then we'll see how it goes.

By Paul (not verified)

Hey Paul,

Welcome to Bushido, the Ro-Kan monks are quite the martial artists and Master Po will only add to this.

"To a real warrior, power perceived may be power achieved."

Im Patrick from Toronto in Canada. Ive been a wargamer for 16 years and have played most games out there. I have recently tried out Bushido using Infinity Yu Jing models as proxies & I enjoyed it and so I ordered some models. Im still waiting for the models to arrive here soon but I have played quite a few games since discovering it and its allready jumped into my top 5 games with the only games ahead of it being dust warfare, Infinity and Star wars minis... So Bushido is already #4 and rising in such a short time. I really hope you find enough success to keep releasing new models as I will likely run out of Bushido models to buy pretty quickly at this rate. I dig the theme I dig the models and I dig the mechanics... Heres hoping the game survives and thrives.
