This topic is where you can say 'hi' to the Bushido community.
So feel free to introduce yourself, and let us know where you play or live (so others can join you or arrange a game or two), which faction you are currently playing or intend on starting, etc.
Hi All.
Hi All.
My name's Siobhan, and my husband and I found Bushido the other day (via Cool Mini or Not). I love Japanese history, in particular military history (Oda Nobunaga is one of my favourite historical people), so we couldn't resist.
I have got the Ito starter set, and he's picked up the Prefecture starter set, and we're currently assembling and painting out models. Can't wait to start playing.
We've already roped my brother-in-law in too, and have bought him the Cult starter set for his birthday.

Welcome to the forums:) let us know how your first few games go, and feel free to ask any questions:) do you chaps/chapesses prefer the painting or gaming?

I've always preferred painting, but I prefer small skirmish games when I play, so I'm expecting it to be 50-50 with this.
I'm from the UK, currently near Reading.

Hi all!
Hi all!
My name is Robert and I was at GothCon XXXVII and spent more or less the entire convention playing or talking about Bushido. Henrix and Yinkin did a very good job demoing a very interesting and nice game.
Impressions of the game thus far is: very good looking models, interesting and fast paced mechanics and most importantly very pleasant company around the gaming tables.
Go Dragon Clan!
Awesome, welcome to the forum

Hi, Orko and Dr.Kaos! Nice to see you here!
I truly wish I could put faces to your names, but I have a lot of faces and snippets of names in my head from the con, so I cannot tell.
And, frankly, we had such a luck in that almost all people trying the game out were so nice and interested that doesnt really help!
Where in our long country do you live? That probably helps me remember!

We both live in Uppsala (flatmates actually) and we were the two last to leave while you were packing up. If it helps we were the ones who came up with the leapfrogging bakemono (that was me) and the perpetually ordering ashigaru theory (that was dr kaos).

Välkomna! Nice that you've found these forums, they're a great and friendly place for questions and chit-chat!
And I hope that we'll meet up and play soon! Gothcon was great, but with all the lovely interested people neither me nor Henrix really got a chance to play ourselves! :)
Ah, yes, now I know! Yinkin
Ah, yes, now I know! Yinkin also helped.
And of course I remember the leapfrogging bakamono (which works, in theory), and the peretually ordering ashigaru (which would not work even if the miniatures had the abilities you thought they had*)!

The game seems excellent and the only problem is deciding what faction to start with.

I always suggest downloading the rules and have a go at it, if you have a hard time convincing your fellows.
(And don't forget to play a scenario that isn't just 'let us bash each other to bits', as the stats are balance for scenarios.)
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Chojin (Richard) and his warring states Prefecture reporting in. I’m formally a GW collector/modeller, re-enactor and DnD player. Found out about the game through Countess (we are married) while she was looking for oriental themed games and something that is a little more portable to play.
The is a good chance I will be off to the modelling and painting forum in the not too distant future as I have already broken my first promise, no new figures until the starter pack is finished. So I am now sat in front of the full unfinished faction, 1 unfinished shrine, 3 unfinished idols, 6 unfinished foam board houses, 48 inches of unfinished fences, barriers, shields and bamboo and have Just started 6 scratch built trees as well...
One day I will finish something.

Greetings All. My name is Tim, I am in Connecticut USA and I have a question:
How the bleep did this game slip under my radar!!??
Oh well, at least I'm here now.
I saw an announcement for Wave 12 on TMP the other day and proceeded to dive down the rabbithole. I've ordered two starter sets (Ro-Kan and Ito Clan) downloaded the rules, cards and tokens. (I found out from the Forum that the cards are out of date so I downloaded the card images that are displayed with the Starter Sets in the Store.) I am now looking for suitable terrain.
I've done an initial reading of the rules (it looks like it will take several reading to get clear understanding of most of it) and I like them. The melee combat rules remind me of Confrontation, another game I like.
Tim, Chojin, welcome to

Thanks for the info.
I plan on printing out larger versions of the cards anyway. The larger cards will stay on the table, beside the game board, and be used for holding various tokens (ki, poison, wounds, etc.) that apply to that character. The smaller "offical" cards are for holding in your hand and referencing without disturbing the above tokens.
Sounds like a plan :)

The game has inherited a lot of good stuff from Confrontation, Tim, and added even more. That's one of the things that draw me in as well! (Ekusa the turtle guy also helped

Hi Both, like the big card idea, very clever! Chojin- I look forward to seeing your stuff, I'm more hobby based myself and prefer modelling and painting, (and making stupid terrain) but bushido is the only rules at the moment that can drag me out of my hobby corner for a quick game:)

Hey there people!
Hey there people!
I recently found Bushido while looking for a skirmish level minis game, been a warhammer player for about 10 years. Love the setting but I'm curious of the game play. I've downloaded the rules and read through them a few times. How does it "compare" to malifaux? I've not played that either so I'm looking for general info, depth of play, tactics, pros and cons of each type of stuff. My gaming group love the models but want the gameplay to measure up to the models standards. Any help for a ronin wandering the skirmish level landscape?
hi minoa, welcome to the
hi minoa, welcome to the forums,
gotta type fast as im going out but- Bushido gameplay is simple to learn but very complex tactically, how you play the game matters far more than your army selection so tactics do mean something, Malifaux is more aboout synergy, the list you take can win or lose a game before a card is drawn, so whichever of those float your boat really! I love bushido, the your action/my action and 2 actions pre model really make every single game different, and the combat system is easily the best system ive ever seen.

I can second Greeny's
I can second Greeny's oppinion about the best miniature skirmish game available, for me it is the most balanced and quick to learn game I have played since 18 years of wargaming. I also learnt that this game is very tactical, which is a good thing for me, it also helps that this setting is my favorite :P

Hi there. Actually I'm neither playing Bushido nor am I experienced in this forum but I've painted a lot of Savage Wave Monsters (and it was a lot of work but I like the result) for my boyfriend as I know he will love them and this game for his birthday. I'll plan driving home now and get some pictures to show them to you for some feedback. Could I post them here in the forum or isn't this the way to go as I'm not an active member here but would really like the feedback..

My name is Mark and I am a long time miniature gamer (20+ years) located in NW ohio. I have been bitten hard by the Bushido bug and am working hard on a couple Bushido demo boards and painting my first two crews. I am also a podcaster, having two gaming oriented podcasts in addition to being cohost on the Adepticon podcast. And I am one of the newest retainers! Looking forward to helping grow the community in my own way!

I've been keeping an eye on Bushido for a while now- with the release of the new book I've finally taken the plunge and will be attempting to convert the rest of my gaming group to this great-looking game and mini line!
Picked up the Temple starter set for my main Force and am in the process of trying to decide between either Savage Wave or Ito Clan as a second Faction so I can get some demo games going at the club- I will likely be pestering the veteran players out there for advice on this in the very near future, so will apologise now!
Cheers!
