Introduce yourself

Studio's picture

This topic is where you can say 'hi' to the Bushido community.

So feel free to introduce yourself, and let us know where you play or live (so others can join you or arrange a game or two), which faction you are currently playing or intend on starting, etc.

Welcome to Jwar Isles!

Bushido is a great game, if you like tactical games over killing games you wont regret ;)

Have fun!

Hello everyone!

My name is Rory and I am from the UK (Hertfordshire)

I run an invite only based gaming group every week, the majority of members are 40k players but I am hoping to convince them to try Bushido!

Just ordered Rule Book, Ito Starter and Ryu Starter set, the models look fantastic and as I enjoy painting so much I cant wait to get started and try and lure more people in! I will also be making a board or two.

My gaming background is mostly Games Workshop products from a young age, but decided enough is enough and can no longer justify the money GW demands (Big relief for the Wife too!), but alas! this is not the reason I am here!

I have been eyeing up Bushido for a few months after a club member mentioned it, so been lurking and umming and arghing the whole time up until now! So taking the plunge!

If anyone is based near Hemel Hempstead - UK and is looking for someone to play bushido with, then I might have some space in my club for you! :)

Hello!

My name is Rick, hailing from Paris, France.

I'm back in the hobby after a break of several years, and discovered Bushido while looking through the available skirmish games these days (never was into painting 200 times the same thing, even just one unit of 20 bores me to tears). I'd actually ignored Bushido for a while, as I'm really not into manga, anime and the likes, and given the name, I kind of expected the game to be just that - more of a cheesy j-rpg than japanese sword & sorcery. Glad I decided to take a look at it after all.

I'm much more of a hobbyist than a gamer, but Bushido just might change that.

Anyhow, see ya around in Jwar!

Welcome Rick.

Hi all, James from Houston, TX, USA here.  Been tracking Bushido for a few years, mostly because of period mentions and ultimately a review on Worlds End Radio about a year ago.  But I finally jumped in and bought a couple of small forces and the rulebook.  The Ito models are superb, while I'm waiting on the rulebook and some Oni and bakemono.  Anyway, just wanted to say hi!  Cheers, James. (ps. the enter key on my computer doesn't seem to work on this forum for some reason...sorry!)

Hi everyone. I'm Scott from Sydney Australia. A former Warhammer 40k player. Currently playing Saga with the Scots and Vikings. Love all things Japanese and fell in love with these minis. Splashed out on four factions, Ryu- ro kan- cult- Ito. More of a painter/collector but do play when I get a chance. Although as yet I don't know anyone near me who plays bushido. Trying to get my usual adversary into it but doesn't want to make the plunge yet, he's more into micro war gaming which I'm not. Would love to find someone near me to introduce me into this game.

Hi
I'm Simone from Italy. Bought all the models, since I'm a collector and they are masterfully crafted. I still don't know if I will be using Yurei or Ro-kan. On that pourpose, I had the first game today, using temple, and needed info about Riku's wall of water. Can enemies shoot or draw los through that? And if yes, on what conditions?
Thanks by now for any advice :)

By Nnertus (not verified)

Welcome all of you, to Bushido and the boards!

Rules questions are best asked in that section, but the text on the Wall of Water specifies that the wall is Obscuring. That means that it gives cover, and models can only draw LoS to models up to 3" beyond the wall (p97 of the rulebook).

hey all!

This is Roberto from Milan, Italy!

tonight me and a couple of friends will try the game.

We all came from warmahordes and we still play Malifaux a lot, looking for another strategy game that is not about "kill'em all".

Hey all. David from Milton Keynes, Bucks, UK. Been watching bushido grow as a minis game for awhile and finally took the step onto the path of the Warrior. Ordered my self 4 starters. Love all the minis across the range. One of the reasons for choosing bushido. But id say the rules are what settled it. Love the dynamic scope and the fact you can choose how to fight in attack and defence.
Ordered Temple, Savage, Ito and cult so i can try different play styles and hopefullt make it easier to get my friends into it. Doesnt cost them anything to try the game. Hope to post more when i have the minis..

If someone could recommend a good blog site id love to share my journey from starting out as a novice. Painting, modelling and gaming ideas, tips and just generally reach to the wider community.

Hello I'm Joshua and based in Chichester UK.
I've been into wargaming for about 12ish years now mainly GW but at my local gaming club we play about 30 different systems and Bushido seems to have taken the club by storm since Christmas.
It also allows my play style of Themed armies over powerful armies, as it is such a balanced system.
I have Ro-kan at the moment and I must say that the models are just beautiful.

Welcome to the forums Joshua:) I tend to go themed over power myself, and Bushido is a great game for getting those themed models out there:) take a look at the modelling and painting sections for some great Ro-Kan inspiration (Rudders, Orochi and Henrix all have some beautiful monks painted up amongst others) and have fun:)

Welcome to Jwar Isles! Have fun! ^^

hi all, im Alistair. a good few of you will know me from my confrontation days and ukcord forums. iv'e had bushido minis sitting on my shelf since the ito kickstarter thingy but had to put gaming on a backburner because of working ridiculous hours for the past 18 months. luckily iv'e now changed job to a nice stable 9-5 mon to fri deal so time to pick up the dice n brush again and get my skirmish fix in the jwar isles.

haven't managed a game yet but looking forward to it. got the Ito clan and savage wave to start with but every faction looks tempting.

Hi Alistair. I think you found the right game as it is made by people who loved Confrontation and those that loved playing it. It's a worthy succesor! I played C3 in the heyday, but mostly spent time at the firm forum. Bushido is very young, but like Infinity which grew through solid rules and models I really believe it has a shining future. And yes, we all want more of it :-) Someone should record more videos.

By Ret-MattT -- The Eagle shares the nest. The Dragon burns it. Join the Black Eagle and crush the usurpers!

yep i know the founders and think iv'e played them all at some point in C3 tourneys from back in the day. from what ive gleaned so far it already has a few things very reminicent of confrontation which can't be a bad thing.

look forward to playing some games.

HI guys!

Im Andras from Hungary, but currently I live in Germany, Berlin.

I have been a long time wargammer and collector, I have been playing lots of GW stuff, and Warmachine. Altough a 4-5 years ago I stopped with the hobby, and boxed everything away, got really fed up with GW, but also I was travelling a lot, so had no other option.

When I moved here, I felt that something is missing, and I had a bit free time, so I decided to pick up painting again. Thats how I came across the bushido models, and instantly felt in love. I have now 2 starters, Yurei and Ryu, plus a few extra figs for Ryu (Which is now almost entirely finished, so expect a few pics soon! :) :) ) I haven't got a chance to play any games yet, and as I am quite new in the city, I don't know anyone who plays, and my gf does not show too much interest :D

First I am planning to collect theese 2 factions, and the Silvermoon later on, but as I really enjoy painting and modelling, probably I am going to pick up a Malifaux starter too.

Anybody in this region please PM me if interested in a few games!

Hi guys! My names Callum and I'm from Glasgow in the UK!

I've been considering Bushido for some time now and have finally decided to take the plunge. Although I'm not 100% on which faction to collect.

I mainly play 40K and Warhammer Fantasy but also dabble in historicals as well as Hell Dorado and Firestorm Armada.

Cheers!

Look forward to getting to a Bushido event sometime soon.

Hi guys, I only recently started playing. I saw a demo game at Birmingham games expo and ended up walking away with a carrier bag full of cult stuff! Currently they are in a variety of stages of being painted. I picked Cult purely because I loved the model of Kato and his little friend.

I only started seriously gaming about six months ago so I am on a steep learning curve. I also dabble in a bit of warmachine amongst other games.

I'm near Peterborough, UK and have foolishly signed up for the August tournament in Nottingham, at which my objective will be not to make a complete idiot of myself!

Welcome to the Oriental-Fantasy-Fusion Game.
http://thetempleofbushido.wordpress.com

Hi Im Chris from Bristol UK, been a wargamer for close to 25 years now, and for a long time been playing mainly historical wargames. Last year I got sucked into Warmachine much against my better judgement, and loved every minute of it. Ive been looking to branch out into some other similar skimish systems as I enjoyed Warmachine so much. So far Ive tried Infinity, which is pretty good- I  loved painting up the models for my Haqqislam force, Malifaux- got a Gremlin crew but only had 1 game so far, which to be fair I did enjoy.

Stumbled across Bushido at Games Expo UK earlier this month, but sadly my 7 yr old son was with me and it was near the end of the day and he was flagging big time (man the catering arrangements sucked big time), and the stand was busy so I didnt get a chance for a good look. Having looked at the dloadable rules, Im intrigued big time- it looks fantastic. Ive been offered a demo by Ret-Rudders in a couple of weeks, but Im not sure I can hold off that long without buying something! Knowing me by the time the demo happens, I wil have the rule book and a couple of factions!

lu-tze's picture

Hey Chris, The catering at the expo was terrifying - I ordered at the bar without looking at the menu and ended up paying £22 for a burger and a glass of cola. Needless to say I took sandwhiches the next day.

Bushido is a great game and the community is really friendly. Enjoy your upcoming demos!

We only went for the day  and having read the blurb I decided my son and I would grab a sandwich there. Big mistake, we managed to eventually squeeze into the tiny shop near the bar area and grab some crisps, water and chocolate. Other than that it was a massive queue for the bar food and it looked really badly organised. Lesson learned for next year. Having a hungry and tired 7 yr old is not conducive to a good gaming experience.

My only previous experience of this type of game was a very brief 40K stint before switching allegience to warmachine which I do love. However for me the main attraction of Bushido is that unlike warmachine it's not all about just running forward and killing the enemy. There are more subleties of play in Bushido and more tactical thinking. The scenarios add a totally different style of game where you can actually lose if you kill your opponent too soon. Loving it so far!

Oh and you didn't miss much if you didn't get into the food hall at Birmingham, overpriced and mediocre imo.

Welcome newcomers and let me just quote this because it is so true. Bushido is nothing about fighting as much as tactics, which is the greatest reason for it´s brilliance, amongst other things :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm Woo (sometimes known as Matt) from Perth, Western Australia. I've been reading over the forums for the last couple of weeks trying to decide on a faction. It's been very difficult because they're all very interesting and seem like fun. I've finally settled on starting with the Silvermoon Trade Syndicate though and will be jumping in feet first by trying to have two lists ready to go for the Tournament of the Iron Dragon in Perth on August 10th.

I've really enjoyed reading the forums so far, people seem very friendly and helpful. I look forward to reading more about people's adventures in the Jwar Isles and I may even end up sharing some of my own.

Cheers,

Woo.
