Dear Community,
The recent errata includes updates to the faction availability of Lord Toad and Master Bat. Originally released with full faction access, both quickly became near‑universal picks in casual and competitive play, including at the Hamburg GM. This level of influence wasn’t intended, so we reviewed their design and availability.
Alongside January’s balance adjustments, we’ve now assigned Celestials to curated faction lists. This prevents universal access from distorting the meta and gives us more room to design future Celestials without compromising faction identities. For example, Ito should not gain access to healing, so limiting faction access allows us to explore more thematic and interesting mechanics. This is a hint at what the next Celestial has to offer.
Your feedback during our earlier Discord discussion strongly supported this direction, and the final faction lists were chosen with lore, identity, gameplay, and future releases in mind. We hope you enjoy their new homes.
Bakemono Hunting Pack
The Hunting Pack theme has seen strong competitive success, but its Ki‑generation interactions created gameplay patterns beyond intended limits. The theme now reads:
“When a Friendly Animal model would generate Ki Tokens in the Starting Phase, instead place those Ki Tokens on the Bakemono Horde card ignoring their Ki Statistic max.”
This preserves the theme’s identity while smoothing Ki flow.
Kaihei
Kaihei models (except the Alpha) now have Vengeance [Held & Prone], requiring both conditions at once. This prevents excessive stacking and keeps their damage output earned through coordination. The Alpha remains unchanged.
Nightwing Swarm
The Nightwing Swarm now heals 1 Wound when it deals Damage in a Melee Exchange, replacing Regenerate (1). This keeps it durable but less passively resilient.
Master Akari
Akari’s Vivacity‑based activation loops became too efficient when combined with new buff‑stacking options. To restore intended gameplay, Akari’s Ki Feat has been changed from Vivacity to Vitality, reducing excessive activations while keeping the model strong and interactive.
Errata & FAQ Documents
We now provide two documents:
- Full Errata & FAQ (all entries)
- Short Errata & FAQ (only what applies to the latest rulebook and digital cards)
If you use the latest rulebook and Bushido App, the shorter document is all you need. Both are available on the GCT website and will be updated as required.
Looking Ahead
Barring urgent issues, we plan no further errata until the annual January update in 2027. This gives the meta time to settle and avoids constant shifts.
As always, happy gaming!
