The Savage Wave
They take the form of evil creatures of myth and folklore. From where they come or why, no-one knows, but one thing is for certain, the wave crushes everything in its path. The oni and bakemono demon-creatures that make up the bulk of the Savage Wave appear bent on the destruction of humankind and all that is holy, but they are not mindless – as many opponents have found out at great pain, the Savage Wave is cunning and organised, and it operates according to its own weird and unknowable logic. Some mad hermits and outcast scholars whisper that this is not the first Savage Wave…

Playstyle
The Savage Wave is a primal faction that embodies ferocity and overwhelming force. They defeat their enemies either by outnumbering them or overpowering them outright. This faction is built around three distinct subfactions.
Bakemono excel at fielding hordes of small, expendable goblins to swarm the battlefield. They rely on sheer numbers, deceptive tricks, and the ability to summon even more of their kin. They exhaust their opponents through relentless pressure.
Oni tower over the competition as a more elite fighting force. They provide large health pools and massive table impact. These demons may lack the refinement (and re-rolls) of elite samurai, but they deliver explosive melee attacks with high brutality and strength.
Onisho may lack the raw brutality of their bigger cousins, but they compensate with greater versatility and a unique toolbox of abilities. They shine in the Ring of Fire theme, which is a trial they must complete in order to evolve into a full Oni. These aspiring demons serve as a mid-range, consistent elite counterpart to Oni. This allows players to spread their investments more evenly.
Despite their brutish aesthetic, Savage Wave thrives on cunning tactics and skilled play. Players may build momentum with endless summons and utility, and their playstyle feels chaotic yet everything is still calculated. It blends savage aggression with otherworldly deception to create a tidal wave of inevitable destruction.
