The Awoken

Softly through the shadows, they come, the Awoken, spinning death, dread and corruption in their silken webs. Not even the empire of flesh can withstand their potent venom with just a single bite undoing all the gods have wrought. They creep ever closer, viewing the empire and Jwar through numerous eyes, choosing their prey carefully, assembling a host that thinks as one under the control of a powerful force older than time itself. Sleep not, for the Awoken are everywhere, lurking in the twilight, biding their time, ensnaring us one by one, and reshaping the world in their terrifying image!

Playstyle

As the offspring of the 13th Celestial, the Awoken are the embodiment of fear. Drawing inspiration from the Jorōgumo for their aesthetic, the faction relies on controlling the flow of the game through a defensive strategy, while offering a distinct play style based on the family of preference, whether that be the Jaakuna, reminiscent of Black Widows, or the Kimura, reminiscent of Tarantulas.

What brings the faction together and describes it best, it is the use of webs as the most unique tool at their disposal for controlling not only the flow of the game, but also force their opponents into unfavourable matchups. Not being able to generate Ki for themselves, the Awoken rely on engaging their enemies using their preferred strategy, whether through poison-based debuffs, through hard-hitting profiles, or a mix of the two.

Whether forcing their enemies to play below their potential or controlling them and turning them against their own allies, the Awoken remain a faction that needs to plan ahead their engagements through careful positioning, resource management and patience planning. A plan could involve weathering their enemies down using expendable Cultists as lures or attempt close-range dominance. Still, the chance to adapt to every game as much as offering a fresh tactical puzzle is there.
